FAQs

Everything you need to know about private group glamping at Hengarth Farm, Catskills NY

What is Glamping at Hengarth Like?

Hengarth Farm is a private glamping inn in the Catskills, New York, where the entire 101-acre mountain-top property is reserved exclusively for one group at a time. Unlike a shared campground or resort, no other guests are present during your stay. The property includes four fully-furnished bell tents with hotel-quality linens, private off-grid bathrooms with hot showers, curated gathering spaces, working farm grounds, and uninterrupted Catskill mountain views. It's designed for groups of up to 20 who want a genuinely private, nature-immersive escape — think exclusive-use inn rather than campsite.

How is Hengarth different from a regular campsite or resort?

Hengarth operates as an exclusive-use property: when your group books, the entire farm is yours — no shared facilities, no other guests, no outside access. This makes it meaningfully different from multi-site glamping resorts where you're camping alongside strangers. All four tents, all gathering spaces, and all 101 acres are reserved for your group alone. The accommodations are not like camping (queen beds, 10-inch mattresses, hotel linens), the bathrooms are private, and the setting is a one-of-a-kind backdrop you won't find duplicated elsewhere.

What gathering spaces are available for groups?

In addition to the four glamping tents and their private outdoor areas, Hengarth guests have exclusive access to a range of shared gathering spaces across the property. These include a covered bar and picnic area (bring your own drinks), a 600 sq. ft. platform deck with panoramic mountain views — ideal for yoga, group dining, or sunset drinks — and a welcoming reception/chill-out space in the barn overlooking the sheep meadow. Beyond the built spaces, guests have access to open meadows, working farm grounds, and woodland trails across the full 101 acres - we can curate spaces in our meadows for your group too, just ask!

What is the minimum stay and booking structure?

Hengarth operates on a two-night minimum for group glamping bookings, with full-property rental only — there is no option to book individual tents. The season runs from June through mid-October. Summer and early-fall weekends book quickly, so early inquiry is recommended for peak dates. To check availability or begin planning, use the inquiry form at hengarth.com/glampinginquiry

What types of groups stay at Hengarth?

Hengarth is designed for private group celebrations and escapes of all kinds — family reunions, friends' weekends, milestone birthdays, bachelorette weekends, and multi-family summer getaways are among the most common. Groups tend to range from 8 to 20 guests. The exclusive-use model makes it particularly well-suited to occasions where privacy and group cohesion matter. Families with children are welcome; the farm setting and open meadows, our stream and woodlands, are a particular hit with younger guests.

What's included in the stay?

Everything you need to sleep, cook, and relax is provided. Across the four tents and shared spaces, every Hengarth stay includes: - Queen bed with hotel linens, blankets, and pillows - Additional single cots (up to 3 per tent) and towels - Cookware, utensils, grills, two-hob camping stove, and charcoal (per tent, and in the guest pavillion) - Drinking water, coffee and tea - Wood and foire starters for the fire pit - Solar lanterns and device charging stations - Private off-grid bathrooms with composting toilet and hot shower - Bath Towels and washing-up amenities - Exclusive access to all gathering spaces — covered bar area, 600 sq. ft. platform deck, and barn reception space - Access to 101 acres of meadows, woodlands, and working farm. - Coolers and ice-packs Food and drink is bring-your-own — guests typically shop before arrival or pick up supplies in Windham (12 minutes) or Prattsville (5 minutes).

What if it rains?

Hengarth is designed to be enjoyed in all weather, and a rainy Catskills day has its own charm. The bell tents are fully weatherproof and genuinely comfortable to hunker down in — with a queen bed, soft furnishings, lanterns, and everything you need to stay cozy. The covered bar and picnic area provides sheltered outdoor space for the group to gather even in wet weather. For heavier rain, the barn reception space offers a dry indoor retreat overlooking the sheep meadow. That said, if your dates are seriously affected by severe weather, contact Hengarth directly — we'll always do our best to work with you.
